The conversion rate is leads over views, with a rate above one hundred per cent refused because it always indicates mismatched measurement systems. The engaged rate re-bases against non-bouncing views, separating a targeting problem from a design one. Field removal is modelled as a COMPOUNDING factor rather than an additive one, and the page states the difference explicitly. Should I measure against all views or engaged views?
Both, for different questions. The raw rate tells you whether your traffic and your page match at all, which is a targeting problem. The engaged rate tells you whether the offer converts people who actually read it, which is a design and copy problem.
Why is my landing page conversion rate falling as I scale?
Because incremental traffic is less qualified. Scaling reaches further into audiences with weaker intent, so a falling rate is expected rather than a fault. The question is whether the marginal lead still costs less than it is worth.
Is a shorter form always better?
Not if it degrades lead quality. A three-field form that doubles volume and halves the lead-to-customer rate has achieved nothing, and it has increased the sales team's workload. Judge form changes on customers produced, never on leads captured.

Does page speed affect conversion?
Substantially, and it shows up in bounce rate before it shows up in conversion. A page that loses visitors before rendering never gets the chance to convert them, which is why the engaged-view rate can look healthy while the raw rate is poor.
How large a test do I need?
Larger than intuition suggests, especially at low conversion rates where a handful of extra leads moves the percentage noticeably. If the decision matters, run a proper significance test rather than comparing two weeks side by side.
